Dizzy Gillespie

 Dizzy Gillespie, cuyo verdadero nombre era John Birks Gillespie fue un trompetista, cantante y compositor de jazz.

Gillespie nació en Cheraw (Carolina del Sur) el 21 de octubre de 1917. Su padre era músico aficionado y fue el quien le fue enseñando lo aspectos teóricos. A los 14 años empezó a tocar el trombón, pero al poco tiempo cambió el trombón por la trompeta.

Gillespie ayudó al desarrollo del bebop y el jazz moderno,le gustaba experimentar y tocar música afroamericana, y eso fue lo que le llevó a experimentar con el jazz afrocubano. 

Colaboró con músicos tanto del mundo del jazz como de otros géneros musicales, como Stevie Wonder.

El bebop es un estilo musical del jazz sucede al swing y precede al cool.

 

Los grandes músicos estaban un poco cansados de no poder extenderse musicalmente, por lo que empezaron a romper las normas y a experimentar con nuevos ritmos y nuevas melodías. De tal forma que el bebop inspirado por Gillespie y Parker fue un gran éxito que se salía de la rutina. 
  
En 1945 grabó algunas de los más revolucionarios temas de la historia de Jazz en colaboración con el saxofonista Charlie Parker, a el cual conoció en una habitación de hotel y desde entonces no puedierón dejar de tocar según afirma Gizzy, de ahí nació el bebop con sus espectáculos en el bar Milton´s.
